How-To Links & Tutorials

  • This tutorial will walk you through all the steps to find and request a library purchase. For school or church orders, email the general email address and/or the director of the Media Center.

  • This video will walk you through the steps!

  • Verified Purchase means the reviewer bought the item on Amazon, and paid a price available to most Amazon shoppers.

Be sure you're signed in to the same account used to purchase when writing your review!

  • Here's a how-to blog post that encourages you to keep it simple!

Helpful book reviews will answer questions readers want to know. Use these questions to inspire a short, four-sentence review! I put my answers in parenthesis.

    1. Why did the topic of this book interest you? (My family has celebrated Advent for two decades and have been looking for the perfect book all that time.)

    2. How does the book give you something you need? (I finally found a book that can be used with the whole family!)

    3. What are you most excited about in reading the book? (I'm so excited to incorporate the activities and feast days into our celebration.)

    4. How will this book make your life or family better? (I can't wait for Advent now because I have a simple guide that is rich, meaningful, and easy to keep up with.)

  • If you posted a review on Amazon, then you're one copy/paste away from sharing that review with other online retailers! Below are direct links to the book page on other sites that accept reviews.

Launch Faqs

  • Your participation is entirely up to you! Read on to discover some reasons to actively participate.

We request that you do two things at an absolute minimum:

    1. Review the book on Amazon and also on Goodreads

    2. Request that your local school, church, and/or public library purchase a copy. Most libraries have "purchase request" forms available on their websites!

What else can you do? Here are just a few examples, never to be limited by your own creativity!

    • Send an email to friends and family encouraging them to look at the book. Be sure to link to the book page or our website!

    • Share our social media posts to your wall, story, feed, etc. as inspiration strikes.

    • Create your own posts to share on social media highlighting The Joy of Advent.

    • Purchase copies for Christmas, wedding, birthday, new baby or other gifts!

    • Tell your local bookstores about the book and encourage them to carry it.

    • Host a Jesse Tree ornament-making party using the book as your guide.

    • Let us know creative ways you plan to share and we'll add them here!

  • This book is a full resource for children and adults, both Protestants and Catholics.

Catholic and many Protestant traditions follow the seasons of the Church year (liturgical seasons) which have been in practice since the very earliest days of the Christianity (some celebrations have roots in the ancient Jewish calendar!). Some Evangelical traditions don't use the liturgical calendar at all, so unless they celebrate St. Nicholas Day or St. Lucy's Day culturally, these celebrations may be new - which is great! They can be fun ways to open up discussion with families, learn about how the broader church celebrates, and about church history.

We have included two important liturgical holidays having to do with Jesus's mother, Mary, that could be unfamiliar to most Protestants. Protestant & Evangelical parents may opt to skip these two special days, to read them independently and share, “Today Catholics celebrate...”, or to celebrate along with their Catholic brothers and sisters and discover the beautiful role the mother of Jesus plays in Christmas!
